CENTRAL ARIZONA CHAPTER
2012 MARKS OF EXCELLENCE AWARD
“To recognize outstanding African-American leaders and their
contributions to the field of public administration”
NFBPA’s Marks of Excellence Award is bestowed upon an African American
public administrator who has achieved extraordinary success in the field
of public management while demonstrating an unselfish commitment to the
community.
This prestigious award is NFBPA’s highest honor and is
presented annually at the year end awards program.
Eligibility
Eligible candidates include non-elected administrators at all levels of
public service in local, state or federal governments, non-profit
institutions, community-based organizations, academic institutions, or
related professional groups.
Criteria
The recipient of the Marks of Excellence award will be an individual
who:
Is involved in public administration and has performed acts of public
service, which have greatly benefited a community;
Has exhibited exemplary leadership qualities that have motivated those
associated with him/her to strive for excellence in performance and
service;
Has demonstrated by his/her personal efforts that service to the public
goes beyond the descriptions of the job assignment;
Has consistently persevered to create and invent more efficient and
innovative systems that benefit all segments of the population;
Is recognized as one whose perpetual quest for higher standards enriches
the science of public management and raises the quality of services to
the community;
Has contributed to a community in ways that are an inspiration to
others, allowing others to learn new and better ways of accomplishing
community driven goals;
Is of the highest moral character and is set apart from others as a
candidate for national recognition.
Nomination Procedures for all Awards
Persons sponsoring candidates for the award are required to follow the
procedures outlined below:
- Submit a narrative, double-spaced, explaining the basis for the
nomination.
- Enclose a biographical sketch of the nominee that includes pertinent
information such as positions held, volunteer work, honors, awards and
other relevant personal data.
- Include the nomination form which contains the name, address, title,
organization and daytime telephone number of the nominee and contact
information for the nominator.
